Every day I get to learn something new: Goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwari, FC Goa Development Team

In an exclusive interview with Football Counter, FC Goa development team 19-year-old young goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwari shares his experience with the club.

Having started his career in football with SAI Guwahati, Hrithik switched to FC Goa youth setup where after a good season he was promoted to join the club’s development team. Hrithik was one of the core members of the FC Goa side that helped the Gaurs top the Goa Zone of the Hero Elite League before the season was cut short due to the pandemic.

Previously, while at the youth side team, Hrithik played a vital-role in his team’s successful campaign. His saves impressed the development team Coaches paving his way to the development team. He mentioned about his youth side Head Coach Gavin Araujo, who played a massive role in shaping his career so far. “Gavin sir motivates me, guides me and teaches us, he corrects us when we would be at fault. Due to his constant support and guidance, we became the Champions in the Youth I-League and qualified for the Final
round.”

He expressed his feelings of being a part of the FC Goa Development team by saying, “I feel good to be a part of FC Goa Development Team, first I was with the youth-side team. Later I joined the development team. It feels good to be here, there is a tough competition for spots and every day I get to learn something new from the Coaches.”

Hrithik’s aspirations to embark on his journey is to give 100% for the game and to perform well, “I want to play a good game and also want the team to be the League Champions and want the team to win titles in the future,” he quotes.

He reminisces his days during his time at the youth-side team by saying, “My favorite memory with the youth-side was when we played the I-League match against Dempo FC, that was my first match for FC Goa youth-side and we won that match with 3-0. I also had a clean-sheet which added extra joy and
happiness to me that day.”

The young lad looks up to Subrata Pal, who is currently the Goalkeeper at SC East Bengal and idolizes German footballer Manuel Neuer, who plays for Bayern Munich and the Germany National Team.
