Mumbai Ultras announces launch of new U18 development program

by FC October 7, 2026

Mumbai Ultras FC is all set to take a massive leap forward in its mission to revolutionize city football.

Building upon the club’s growing academy infrastructure—which currently features batches starting from U8 to U16—MUFC has now officially announced the launch of its new U18 Development Squad, set to kick off in mid-October. This program is designed to bridge the gap between youth football and the senior professional team.

The Critical Bridge to Professional Football

For years, the biggest challenge in our local football development has been the transition gap between youth setups and senior squads. When young footballers are met with limited competition, inconsistent coaching, and no clear roadmap to becoming a professional football player, they eventually drift away from the game.

Mumbai Ultras FC plans to tackle this issue head-on with a clear, sustainable, long-term vision. The newly formed U18 program will function as Tier 4 of the club’s meticulously structured “Pathway to Pro” model. It serves as a direct feeding line into the club’s competitive structure, which features a main Senior team, a Reserve team, and a planned upcoming RFDL squad formed by merging eligible players from both the reserve and senior ranks.

Continues Match Exposure: The 40-Game Plan

Recognizing that competitive minutes are vital for player growth, the U18 program is built around a rigorous 40-game competitive plan per season. Players will be tested across major local and regional tournaments, ensuring they gain the match sharpness, tactical awareness, and physical resilience required at the top level.

Elite Infrastructure & Development Standards

Aligned with Marwah Sports, U18 athletes will benefit from a holistic training environment that extends far beyond the pitch. Players will have access to elite strength and conditioning sessions at professional-grade facilities, cognitive recovery and team-bonding environments, and specialized turf courts designed to sharpen agility and lateral movement. Training sessions will run 2 to 3 days a week under the guidance of experienced, licensed and professional coaches.
