Bengaluru FC began their 2026-27 Indian Super League campaign with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Sporting Club Delhi at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Saturday, October 10. Borja Martínez scored twice before Menno Koch struck late to seal all three points for the Blues in a dramatic five-goal season opener.

Bengaluru made the perfect start when Borja opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. However, SC Delhi responded almost immediately, with Rodrigo finding the equaliser in the 26th minute. The visitors then took the lead in the 32nd minute when Bengaluru defender Menno Koch inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, giving Delhi a 2-1 advantage at half-time.

The hosts returned after the break determined to turn the game around, and Borja delivered again in the 75th minute to restore parity. His second goal of the evening brought Bengaluru back into the contest and set up a tense finish, with both sides searching for the decisive breakthrough.

That moment arrived in the 89th minute, when Menno Koch made amends for his earlier own goal by finding the net at the right end to put Bengaluru ahead 3-2. The late strike proved decisive, completing a dramatic turnaround and sending the home supporters into celebration.

For Bengaluru, the victory offers an ideal start to the new ISL campaign, with Borja’s brace and Menno’s late winner proving crucial. Despite taking a first-half lead, SC Delhi were unable to hold on, leaving Bengaluru with all three points after an entertaining and closely fought encounter.

The five-goal thriller provided an exciting opening to the 2026-27 ISL season, with Bengaluru FC showing their resilience to recover from a half-time deficit and begin their campaign on a winning note.
