From Workweek to Matchday: The KPL Weekend Routine

For many footballers, weekdays are about work, responsibilities and family. But when the weekend arrives, the football boots come out again. The Kharghar Premier League (KPL) gives players across Mumbai a platform to compete, stay active and continue doing what they love.

Now entering its fourth season, KPL has created a space specifically for players aged 30 and above — an age group where opportunities for organised competitive football can become limited. The league gives them a reason to return to the pitch, stay fit, reconnect with teammates and continue challenging themselves.

For Rahul Raina, owner and player of Real Kharghar FC, the league is about much more than the competition.

“KPL gives us the chance to keep playing the game we love while managing our careers and families. As players, we may have grown older, but the passion for football hasn’t changed. Being both an owner and a player makes the experience even more special — you’re building the team and then stepping onto the pitch to represent it.”

For the Mumbai football community, KPL also creates a local environment where experienced players can compete, build friendships and remain connected to the game. It shows that football doesn’t have an expiry date, passion, experience and football intelligence continue to have a place on the pitch.

As KPL enters its fourth season, the league continues to bring together professionals, friends and football lovers every weekend, proving that no matter how busy the week gets, there’s always time for football.
