Seawoods FC win TDFA Super Division League

In a feisty encounter, Seawoods FC got the better of Tekson Football Club and clinched the Thane District Football Association Super Division League yesterday at the NMMC Stadium, Nerul. The final score read 2-1.

The match started slowly, with both teams failing to convert chances. By the end of the first 45 minutes, a build-up by team Seawoods bore fruits. An attack was launched quickly playing the final ball to Nishad Patil, who broke the deadlock. Nishad’s solitary goal at the 43rd minute separated both sides at the first half.

The second half kicked off with both teams trying to impose pressure. The game intensified in the final quarter. Tekson languished by a goal but never lacked intent. They launched a flurry of attacks to turn the tide. However, at the 82nd minute, Seawoods increased their lead from a counter attack. They found the net from a corner kick. Sujit Mullapidi’s cross found Ashwin Gadge, who received the ball and smashed it onto the bottom right corner of the net.

Matters seemed out of control for Tekson until the extra time. In the 93rd minute, Tekson Football Club’s Ramesh rose to the occasion and scored, which eventually became a consolation goal. The final whistle was blown declaring Seawoods as the new champions.

The TDFA Super Division League was organized by the football association of Thane after a gap of two years due to COVID-related restrictions.

Seawoods FC First XI: Sandeep, Winston, Ashwin, Sudarshan, Nikhil, Jerme, Divakar, Rohan, Adil, Varun, Nishad.

Tekson FC First XI: Mahesh, Kalicharan, Bijay, Kishan, Chotrai, Kushal, Charan, Bikash, Shyam, Ramesh, Swapan.
