Skorost FC and ICL ‘A’ triumphs in 1st Division play-offs

31st March 2018, Mumbai: On Saturday, two MDFA First Division play-off games were played at the St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel. In the Group B game, Skorost United FC locked horns against Sunday Boys FC while in Group A match, Indian Cultural League (ICL ‘A’) met Miners FC. Skorost United FC had to dig deep in a 3-2 win over Sunday Boys, whereas, Indian Cultural League narrowly edged out Miners FC 1-0.

Group B: Skorost United FC (Rohit Dhadtare 22′ & 68′ and Shubham Verma 40′) 3-2 Sunday Boys FC (Ritesh Nishad 27′ and Prashant Sawant 40 + 2′)

After losing to ICL Payyade 1-0, Skorost United FC bounced back with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Sunday Boys FC at the St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel. Sunday Boys FC came back twice to level the score but it was Rohit Dhadtare’s 68th-minute strike which sealed the victory for Skorost.

Earlier in the match, Rohit had given Skorost a well-deserving lead before Ritesh Nishad levelled the score. Shubham Verma restored the lead for Skorost but a couple of minutes later, Prashant Sawant made it 2-2. In the end, Rohit’s brilliance saved the day for Skorost.

Group A: Indian Cultural League (Prafulla Pote 28′) 1-0 Miners FC

In the other game,  Indian Cultural League (ICL ‘A’) also won their first game of the play-off campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Miners FC. ICL ‘A’ had lost their previous game 3-0 at the hands of Veniza Vihar. But a positive response yesterday helped them to secure a 1-0 win. Prafulla Pote’s 28th-minute strike was enough for  ICL ‘A’ to see-off  Miners FC.
