Kerala Blasters Begin ISL Campaign with Comfortable Win Over Inter Kashi

Kerala Blasters FC began their MG Indian Super League (ISL) 2026-27 campaign on a winning note, defeating Inter Kashi 2-0 at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune on Sunday. Vibin Mohanan opened the scoring in the 18th minute before Andre Green struck in stoppage time to seal all three points for the Blasters.

Kerala started brightly, creating early opportunities as Freddy Lallawmawma fired over from distance in the fifth minute. Inter Kashi responded almost immediately, with Rosenberg Gabriel testing goalkeeper Arsh Shaikh from the left side of the box. Manvir Singh also threatened for the visitors, but neither side could establish control in the opening exchanges.

The Blasters broke the deadlock in the 18th minute through Vibin Mohanan. Korou Singh supplied the assist, setting up Mohanan for a right-footed finish from the centre of the box to give Kerala an early advantage.

Inter Kashi looked to respond, with Manvir forcing another save from Shaikh in the 35th minute. At the other end, Kerala continued to create chances, but Albino Gomes kept out attempts from Freddy Lallawmawma and Korou Singh to ensure the visitors remained within touching distance at half-time.

The second half saw Kerala push for a second goal while Inter Kashi searched for an equaliser. Manvir’s header was saved by Shaikh in the 61st minute, and Andre Green came close to extending the Blasters’ lead four minutes later but narrowly missed the target. Ayush Chhikara also threatened for Inter Kashi, firing just wide in the 72nd minute.

As the contest entered its closing stages, Kerala continued to threaten from set-pieces, with Sumit Sharma heading over from a corner in the 80th minute. Inter Kashi pushed forward in search of a late equaliser, but the Blasters’ defence remained organised to protect their slender lead.

Kerala finally put the result beyond doubt in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Mohammed Sanan set up Andre Green, who calmly finished with his left foot into the bottom-right corner to make it 2-0 and cap a strong start to the campaign.

The victory gives Kerala Blasters an early boost in their pursuit of a successful ISL season. While Vibin Mohanan’s first-half strike provided the platform, Green’s late goal ensured there would be no nervous finish as the Blasters secured all three points and a clean sheet.
