ONGC prepares to keep pressure on Air India

27th March 2018, Mumbai: Last season’s runners-up ONGC (Oil & Natural Gas Corporation) is gearing up to prepare a tricky challenge when they will face MS (Maharashtra State) Police in the MDFA Elite Division encounter at Mumbai Football Arena (Andheri) on Wednesday evening. It is a must-win game if ONGC wants to keep up the pressure on Air India who is currently at the top of Elite Division table with a hundred percent record this season in all competitions.
ONGC is just two points below Air India. A win would help them to leapfrog Air India at the top at least for the time being. ONGC has dropped just two points this season, courtesy of conceding a late goal against Western Railway which ended 1-1.
Just like previous seasons, Elite Division’s title race has been all about two clubs, Air India and ONGC. Although Union Bank of India (UBI) has been incredible throughout too, but a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Air India may have done the damage to their title hope.
Facing MS Police has been a very tricky challenge for all the teams this season. They have been quite unpredictable and tomorrow ‘The Polices’ would be looking to bounce back after suffering two back-to-back defeats at the hands of Central Bank of India (CBI) and Mumbai Strikers.
The likes of Enock Annan, Parminder Singh, Himanshu Patil and Nitesh Monde will be instrumental tomorrow. With ONGC yet to play Air India this season, a win tomorrow against MS Police will further heat up the title race, just like the previous seasons.
