Castle Boys holds O’Sheish; Maurya tops Group C

25th March 2018, Mumbai: On Sunday, under the floodlights, two MDFA Second Division play-off league games were played out at the St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel. In the first game, Maurya Youngsters met Mother Theresa Foundation before O’Sheish FA encountered Castle Boys in the penultimate match of the night. With a 0-0 draw, Maurya Youngsters finished their play-off league campaign at the top of Group C while O’Sheish FA missed out on the top two spot after a 2-2 draw against Castle boys.
Group C: Maurya Youngsters FA 0-0 Mother Theresa Foundation
Maurya Youngsters FA came into the match on the back of two consecutive victories. They needed only a draw to clinch the first spot in Group A. Both Maurya Youngsters and Mother Theresa Foundation played out an eventful game where they had to share the spoils in a goalless draw.
Mother Theresa Foundation finished second in Group C with five points in three games, Maurya topped with seven points in three games.
Group C: O’Sheish FA (Altamash Khan 14′ and Emaad Nadkar 55′) 2-2 Castle Boys (Wayne Trindade 48′ & 60′)
In the final match of the night, O’Sheish conceded late as they had to settle for a 2-2 draw against a spirited Castle Boys side. The draw hardly affected the table as O’Sheish finished third with three points, whereas, Castle Boys finished at the bottom of Group C with one point in three games.
Altamash Khan opened the scoring in the 14th minute for O’Sheish with a fine goal as they took their solitary lead into the second half in hope to win their first game of the play-off campaign. But Wayne Trindade’s strike in the 48th minute levelled the score. Seven minutes later, O’Sheish restored their lead when Emaad Nadkar got on the scoresheet. With what seemed to be the decisive goal, Wayne levelled the score again in the 60th minute for Castle Boys to salvage a hard-fought draw.
