MDFA 1st division: Desperados beat fellow contender Sunday Boys to top group B

Desperados SC and Wellingdon Cath. Gym end their respective group campaign undefeated as both sides top their group with an identical 20 points secured through 6 wins and 2 draws.

In the final game of group C table, Wellingdon Catholic Gymkhana edged Xavier boys 1-0 to go four points clear at top. Saumil Damor struck the net around the half hour mark to put Wellingdon in to lead as despite some late efforts from Xavier’s the game ended at 1-0. While the win made no difference for wellingdon in terms of league position the loss for Xavier boys meant the team failed to secure a mid-table finish as they ended their season at seventh position in the nine team group.

Group C: Wellingdon Catholic Gym. (Saumil Damor) 1 – 0 Xavier Boys

Meanwhile in group B, Desperados SC defeated Sunday Boys to claim the top spot with a comprehensive 2-0 win. Both teams came into the fixture with the top spot up for grabs with the next round qualification already secured, both sides looked for a win to boost the confidence of the team. Kishan Dubey opened the scoring minutes before the half hour mark before Shaheer Mohamed doubled the lead three minutes later as Desperados SC took a driving seat in to the game. The match ended at 2-0 scoreline with Desperados going 2 points clear at top over fellow contenders Sunday Boys FC
