Supremo Chashak’s Zonal Football Tournament from 22nd April

In association with MDFA – Mumbai District Football Association, Supremo Chashak, an NGO which is founded by MLA Mr. Sanjay Potnis is organising Supremo Cup Zonal Football Tournament which is set to be contested from 22nd April 2018 onwards. The tournament will consist of eight teams (Borivali, Parel, Kalina, Colaba, Mumbai Central, Bandra, Navi Mumbai and Thane) which will be divided into two groups.

This Zonal Tournament will be played at Air India’s Football Ground in Kalina and it is set to follow the 11 + 7 players format.

The fascinating thing is, all the participating players must represent their vicinity’s team only. For instance, a player from either Goregaon, Dahisar, Kandivali, Mira Road can play for Team Borivali only.

Back in the early 2000’s, Zonal Tournaments used to be contested where the best ‘football region’ of Mumbai were determined.

‘Supremo Foundation’ – an NGO established for looking after financially poor people with their chronic disease treatment, has come forward to sponsoring the event this year. An initiative of Mr. Sanjay Potnis, Supremo Foundation has been instrumental in encouraging sports as well, organizing various tournaments and sponsoring talented players. Harris shield record scorer Prithvi Shaw and Kabbadi star Rishank Devadika are some of the stars of Supremo Foundation.
