MDFA Elite Division Champions Mumbai Customs to conduct trials

Mumbai Customs

Having lifted the MDFA Elite Division 2018-19 title – Mumbai Customs will now be conducting open trials for their upcoming title defence season.

Mumbai Customs look to strengthen their squad for their upcoming title defence in MDFA Elite Division campaign – Mumbai Football’s top tier football league. The defending champions will be conducting open trials on Monday inviting city footballers.

Last season, Mumbai Customs outclassed Air India in the final to lift the Elite division title for the first time in 27 years. Goalkeeper Liyaz Koya was the star in the final producing 4 penalty saves (3 during the shootout) to take his side through to lift the title. Liyaz Koya also went on to win the MDFA Elite Division ‘Best Goalkeeper award’ later in the night. Customs are known to have groomed a lot of players over the years with veteran defender Hekmat Singh having become a known name in Mumbai Football circuit

The title win was a huge achievement for Mumbai Customs as they did the improbable. It had been a while, since a team other than the usual suspects Air India and ONGC, that has managed to win the league title but with Customs, a new champion has arrived.

It will be interesting to see, how Mumbai Customs title defence goes this season. Till then the club is in look out for players to help them repeat last season’s success.
