We know we need to play very well against Kenkre to get the three points – Churchill Brothers head coach Antonio Rueda

Having suffered back-to-back losses at home in their first two league games Churchill Brothers will be hungry to turn things around when they take on Mumbai’s Kenkre FC in tomorrow’s encounter at Cooperage

The two sides have met each other twice so far with the Goan outfit coming out on top both times. In last season’s meeting between the two sides, it was the Red Machines that came out on top with a 2-1 scoreline courtesy of a late goal from Kenneth.

Speaking about his opponent Churchill Brothers head coach Antonio Rueda hailed the league’s competitive nature. He said, “This competition is of very high quality and any team can beat anybody on its day. Kenkre have given us tough fights before too, last season and in the preseason game, they had held us well and only conceded late in the game. We know we need to play very well to get the three points.”

Having lost first two league games at home, Coach mentioned his team starting fresh tomorrow, “Although we played well and created quite a good number of chances. We didn’t get the results we wanted. Now, it is important that we forget our previous results. We want to play good football and our main objective is winning tomorrow.”

22-year-old Midfielder Wendell Coelho, who has been with the club for the last three years, hailed the club’s youth culture, “It has been a great experience so far with Churchill Brothers. They have always promoted youngsters and given them chances to play. This year, I have got the opportunity to play in the Hero I-League and I am hoping to give my best. We want to fight for the win tomorrow and get stronger.”

The match between Mumbai Kenkre FC and Churchill Brothers FC Goa will kick off at 4.30 PM IST, and will be broadcast live on Eurosport and Doordarshan Sports, and streamed live on the Discovery Plus OTT platform.
