Thane District Football WIFA Adhoc Committee Football League 2018-19 enters its final stages

The inaugural edition of the Thane District Football WIFA Adhoc Committee football league 2018-19 took place in January this year. The entire league is supported by the Western India Football Association – the governing body of football in Maharashtra.

The presentation ceremony was graced by Mr. Harsharan Singh (Trustee, Nerul Gymkhana), Mr. Mukul Kandwal (Cheif Business Officer, Exide industries), Mr. Vijay R Patil (Jt. Secretary, Navi Mumbai Sports Association).

The eminent talents of Indian football, Mr. Rahul Bheke (Bengaluru FC- ISL), Mr. Nikhil Poojari (FC PuneCity – ISL, India), Mr. Abhishek Ambekar (Mohun Bagan – I League), Mr Amey Ranawade (Mohun Bagan – I League), Mr Zaheer Abaas Hamza (Ex – Indian International), Mr. Suprith Jathanna (Ex – Maharashtra Player) were present at the ground to encourage the young prospects.

After successfully conducting the games at various locations,  the tournament is now in its final stage. The league is now going to be held at the Intra-District Championship level, to find the best team from Thane.  Four teams from the Navi Mumbai, four teams from Thane City, and two teams from Kalyan-Ambernath will fight it out on the pitch to conquer the ultimate championship.

Ten teams are divided into two groups. Group A matches will be conducted in All Saints School, Bhiwandi and Group B matches will be played at Navi Mumbai Sports Association, Vashi. The groups are as follows:

Group A
Anjuman- Thane
Kukri XI FC – Nerul
Mercian FC – Thane
Khiladi Connect FC – Belapur
KEFC – Kalyan

Group B
S P Football Academy – Nerul
NMSA FC – Vashi
Maurya Youngstar – Thane
FLA SRI MAA – Thane
Cosmos SC – Ambernath
