Air India

In an once sided encounter, Air India showcased their class and experienced with an absolute dominating performances over fellow elite division side Millat FC

In the lone match of Day 8 of MDFA Nadkarni Cup encounter saw Air India take on Millat FC. The game began with the former elite division champions taking control of tempo from early on. Air India asserted their dominance early in the game, playing some slick passing and making decisive movements in the opponents half. However, Millat GK stood tall to deny any chances.

It was in the 40th minute when Air India finally managed to find the break when the first goal was scored through Sumesh Nair to make it 1-0 before half time.

In the second half, Air India continued their attacks with almost three attempts rebounding off the crossbar in the entire game. Millat FC goalkeeper Sumeet pulled off a sensational save off Dion Menezes powerful free-kick to keep his side in the game.

In the 70th minute, Striker Johnson D’silva struck a sublime header to send Air-India 2-0 up. The game ended with Air India topping the group C table with 6 points in two games.

We won but we still could have done better. Once we get into our regular rhythm and know each other well. So far we had just 3-4 practices together, we are playing only to 40% of our capability and I am sure with more matches and practices together we would win better.
Siddhu (Anuraj Singh) come back to squad has brought in more confidence to the teammates. We his guidance and leadership skill has helped the young players in the team.

– Dion Menezes

Result – Nadkarni Cup:

Air India (Sumesh Nair 40’, Johnson D’silva 70’) 2 – 0 Millat FC
