India Women’s Team conclude Uzbekistan tour with a draw!

The Indian Women’s team travelled to Uzbekistan for an exposure trip. Team India played two matches on 30th August and 2nd September at the Yakkasari Stadium in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

India broke the deadlock with Sandhiya Ranganathan’s strike at 52′. The team failed to keep their lead as their counterparts equalized at 78′. With a little over 10 minutes of regulation time left in the game, Lyudmila Karachik scored from a penalty.

It was an end to end affair where both the teams had equal opportunities to score. India forward Bala Devi had a golden opportunity to score from a freekick but her effort saw the ball miss the target.

AIFF Emerging Player of the Year, Dangmei Grace launched several attacks from the right flank but was kept ay bay by Uzbekistan defence. On the other side, Aditi Chauhan, the experienced shot-stopper of the Indian outfit made some crucial saves.

It was only after both the team change sides, India was able to open the scoresheet. Bala’s assist saw Sandhiya netting the ball.  India was close to scoring their second goal within a few minutes after scoring. Ranjana Chanu ran down the left flank and put the ball at the face of the goal. Unfortunately, nobody was present in the box to convert the chance.

However, Uzbekistan kept pressing high and got success at the 78th minute. Daya Devi, who replaced Sandhiya in the second half, had a late chance to win it for India, but her shot from inside the area went wide of goal and the match concluded 1-1.

LINEUP: Aditi Chauhan; Roja Devi, Sweety Devi, Ashalata Devi, Sanju; Sangita Basfore, Ratanbala Devi, Bala Devi; Dangmei Grace, Ranjana Chanu, Sandhiya Ranganathan.
