Mumbai Port Trust march towards First Division semifinals, S.R.S Sporting beat BPCL
Mumbai Port Trust beat Indian Culture League (A) 2-1, in their Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), First Division Quarterfinal match held at St Xavier’s ground, Parel on 28th April 2017. i.e Friday afternoon.
A brace from Ubed Ansari helped Mumbai Port Trust book a semifinal spot in the MDFA First Division League 2016-17. A narrow 2-1 win, nonetheless that takes them a step closer to the final.
Ubed scored the opening goal in the 32nd minute as Mumbai Port Trust went in front. They lead 1-0 at the break. The second half was a close contest with Ubed Ansari doubling the lead in the 58th minute. Gaurav Wagh netted for ICL (A) pulling one back but they failed to grab an equalizer. The end result means Mumbai Port Trust are in the semifinal. Both the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), First Division semifinals will be played on Sunday, 30th April 2017 in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, in another Third Division encounter, SRS Sporting blanked BPCL Refineries by a 2-0 margin, at the St. Xavier’s ground Parel. Vinayak Newale and Vinit Koli netted one goal each to seal SRS Sporting’s victory.
