Dreams Sports Championship: RFYC to lock horns with Brothers SA in regional final
Reliance Foundation Young Champs, Brothers Sports Association setup final clash in Mumbai leg of Dreams Sports Championship
Mumbai, February 05, 2025: The Reliance Foundation Young Champs continued their brilliant run in Dream Sports Championship and registered a place in the regional final of the tournament after an impressive 4-0 win against Mumbai School Sports Association at Cooperage Stadium.
In the final, they will face Brothers Sports Association, who beat Mumbai City FC on the last day of the group stages.
RFYC scored a couple of goals in each half with Shawn Fernandes netting twice in the 4th — a lovely bicycle kick — and in the 11th minute of the match respectively. Riding on a 2-0 lead, they went into the half time in a strong position and then stretched the lead in 75th minute after Pritom Brahma scored the third for the side. Faris A provided the final touches as he struck one in the 88th minute to make it 4-0.
In the second clash of the day in the Mumbai leg, Brothers Sports Association defeated Mumbai City FC 3-1 to secure a place in the final. Mumbai City FC took an early lead after Neev Chhipa got his name on the scoresheet in the 3rd minute of play. But Gavisht Goyal soon brought Brothers Sports Association back in the hunt with an equaliser in the 12th minute.
Captain Teinam Marshilong followed it up with another one in 29th minute to hand his side a lead in the first half. Nibash Singh later scored the third goal in 94th minute as Brothers Sports Association wrapped up a comprehensive win.
