Western Railways hold Champions Air India

Defending champions of MDFA Elite Division, Air India met the current winner of Independence Cup 2015, Western Railway at Cooperage Stadium which is one of the most anticipated fixture in Elite Division. Both the teams cancelled each other out in a 2-2 draw.
Kenistan and Ravikant Naidu scored for Western Railway, whereas. Subhas Chakraborty and Raymer Fernandes was on score sheet for Air India.
Right from the beginning it seemed that both the teams are hungry for goals, Air India had couple of chances going in their way but they couldn’t do much in final third.
Though it didn’t took much time to open the scoring, Air India’s Subhas Chakraborty found a cross inside the box which he managed to poked it with ease as Air India gets the early lead which they were looking for.
At one stage, Reuben and Ravikant Naidu created havoc for the defending champions after a beautiful display in the final third but Air India somehow managed to keep the burden away.
In the second half, it took Western Railway just four minutes to open the scoring when Kenistan with a proper striker attributes, finishes a low driven shot into the back of the net to make the score even.
Just a minute after Kenistan scored, his teammate Ravikant Naidu found a perfect through ball, he capitalizes the chance and it was suddenly 2-1 in favour of Western Railway, the tables had turned on.
The defending champions though needed only another six minutes to equalize. Air India was awarded a penalty which Raymer Fernandes buried his shot perfectly to make it 2-2.
In an awkward incident further in the match, Air India’s Praval Chakraborty was booked for spitting.
With only minutes to go Western Railway almost scored a winner when Kenistan shot managed to hit the post, which actually made the dugout jump in joy for one moment.
The match ended 2-2 but with the season only just began, both the teams have much time to improve further.
