Indian Navy sail past Central Railways

Indian Navy smoothly sailed to a convincing 4-1 win against Central Railway in an Elite Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League – 2014-15, played at the Cooperage ground, on Wednesday morning.

Priyo Kumar Singh played a key role for the sailors by scoring the first and fourth goals. In between his teammates Britto P.M. and Pawandeep Singh struck a goal each as Navy cruised to victory. Central pulled one back through Zuber Desai’s late goal.

The Naval outfit hardly encountered much resistance from the railwaymen and struck three times during the first session to open up a commanding 3-0 lead. They relaxed the pace in the second and added one more before Central Railway scored their lone goal in the final minute of the match.

It did not take Navy too long to take the lead as Priyo Kumar found the back of the net in the 11th minute before Britto with a neat strike doubled the lead in the 29th minute. Later, Pawandeep Singh got his name on the scoresheet by firing home the third goal on the stroke of the half-time whistle.

Priyo Kumar was again hit the target in the 69th minute to put Naval in cruise control mode with a 4-0 cushion.

Central fighting a losing battle managed to reduce the deficit when Desai managed to bugle the net in the final minute of the match.

Results –Elite Div: Indian Navy 4 (Priyo Kumar Singh 11th, 69th, Britto P.M. 29th, Pawandeep Singh 44th) beat Central Railway 1 (Zuber Desai 90th).
