Veera United hold impressive ICL U-19

ICL U-19 were held to a goalless draw by Veera United in the 3rd division match of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) at St Xavier’s ground, Parel on 5 May 2015. The ICL Youngsters were dominant for most parts in the game, but failed to score.

Until the first 15 minutes the game was played in Veera United box but they failed to eak out a goal.

ICL Youngsters’s Parth Dalvi and Wilson D’Souza used their skills to full effect to build play but Wilson D’Souza’s shot rebounded as it struck the left goalpost. Parth Dalvi gave a pass to Wilson D’Souza in the center but he failed to put ICL ahead

2 minutes later ICL’s Sandeep Chavan missed a good chance as he chose to shoot instead of passing to his team mate and his long range shot went wide of the target.

Veera United’s Sagar Potdar and Raj Gundmala’s efforts brought the first chance for Veera United in the 14th minute. Sagar P. gave a cross at Raj G. who directed the shot towards the target but goalkeeper made a  good save to deny him.

The game remained goalless at half time.

Veera United who were second best to ICL U-19 in the first half, started the second half on the front foot and put pressure on ICL.

In the 22nd minute.  Sagar Potdar controlled the ball and ran along with the ball towards the goal but his shot went wide towards the left as he missed the chance.

In the 29th minute Veera United’s Sachin K. gave a throw but it was collected by ICL U-19’s Sandeep C. who tactically made efforts to hit the target but it struck the goalpost to rebound and go outside the field.

In 35th minute ICL Youngsters Pasha S. gave a cross at Wilson D’Souza. Wilson D’Souza controlled the ball and shot from 6 yards towards the target. His lifted shot went wide towards the left. Wilson D’Souza should have scored and it was a poor miss from him..

With the full time whistle the game ended with disappointment for both the teams as they had to settle for a point each.
