WIFA Inter District: Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur & Buldana book slots in Semis

The Matchday 4 and the Quarter Finals of the WIFA Inter-District Sub Junior Girl’s Football Championship hosted teams Mumbai, Nashik, Kolhapur, Solapur, Thane, Pune, Buldana, and Nagpur.
The opening game of the day saw Mumbai outclass Nashik by a massive 6 goal margin to qualify for the Semis. Mumbai scored an early goal within a minute through Riya’s effort. Jahnavi scored a brace at the 17th and 22nd minute and Riya scored at the 25th minute to give Mumbai a big lead at first half. The second half kicked off only to see Mumbai score two goals more through Bhumika and Mmehak’s strike. The final whistle of the game saw Mumbai win by a huge margin and qualify to the Semi-finals.
Kolhapur played out a dominant performance against Solapur to qualify for the Semis on the second knockout game of the day. Samruddhi, who later scored 4 goals for her team, opened the scoresheet for Kolhapur at the 5th minute. She doubled the lead at the 9th minute. Furthermore, Sanika and Shrutika found the net to give Kolhapur a 4 goal lead at the end of the first half. Kolhapur’s rampant form continued as the outfit scored thrice at the second half. Samruddhi completed her hat-trick at the 28th minute and scored the quadruple at 30th. Sakshi put the final nail in the coffin as Kolhapur eased past Solapur with 7 goals to enter the Semi-Final.
The third game of the day hosted Pune against Thane. Pune claimed a comfortable win against Thane where the former scored 4 past their opponents. Pune took an early lead through Zahra’s goal at the 1st minute of the game. Kajol scored the second goal at the 28th minute and gave Pune a 2 goal lead as the first half concluded. As the second half commenced, Pune found the net twice to head towards the final-four round.
On the final encounter of the day, Buldana pulled out all the stops to ensure their way to the Semis. In a feisty first half, Buldana scored twice and Nagpur replied intending to charge the game up. In a battle for glory in the second half, Buldana got the better off Nagpur as Sakshi Hiwali whipped the net at the 47th minute to take her team to the semi-final.
The Semi-final is slated to kick-off on 10th of January where Buldana clash swords against Mumbai and Pune will lock horns against Kolhapur!
