Christ Church FC hobble to a close win over depleted Clint F.C

Christ Church F.C’s spectacular performance against Clint F.C helped them qualify for the playoffs with a 1-0 scoreline in the 3rd division match of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) at St Xavier’s ground, Parel on 13th May 2015.

It was a real shame that Clint F.C only had 8 players playing from their side. But they showed plenty of resolve as they went down fighting to Christ Church

Christ C hurch F.C who enjoyed a numerical advantage wasted no time in making it count when they opened the scoring in the 4th minute with efforts from Hatim Kapasi. Juzer D. from left wing crossed to Hatim Kapasi who shot straight on target giving Christ Church FC an early lead.

5 minutes later Christ Church F.C’s Hatim Kapasi’s failure to control the ball from a throw in meant they missed a good chance to score and add to the lead. Hatim Kapasi failed to control a Juzer D. pass after the latter had managed to latch on to a throw in.

Hatim Kapasi frequently made attempts to score but his efforts were not rewarded. He missed another chance in the 13th minute as he shot from close range to see his shot rebound off the goalpost allowing the goalkeeper to grab the loose ball.

Clint FC’s Jeet Singh did well when he blocked Christ Church F.C’s Shubham Patil’s effort in the 20th minute who was well prepared to hit on target from 6 yards. Shubham received a pass from Nilesh Rao from midfield.
Christ Church F.C got a corner kick in 23rd minute which was shot by Juzer D which was cleared by Jeet Singh.
The first half ended with Christ Church F.C leading by 1-0.
The second half was quite was too tough for Clint F.C as they were under pressure.

Christ Church F.C increased their attacks in the second half but they were unfortunate as no goal came from second half.

Clint F.C’s goalkeeper made a good save when Christ Church F.C’s Eranna Vadari shot from a free kick just outside the penalty box 3 minutes after the break.

In 33rd minute Clint F.C missed a chance to score from a corner kick as Wilfrand Fernandez shot went just wide of the goal. The corner kick was taken by Eustace Saldaana which was tapped in by Wilfrand Fernandez who shot from the penalty box but his shot was off target

Christ Church bagged the three points, but were made to toil by the eight men of Clint F.C who remained in the contest till the last minute, despite being heavily depleted.
Christ Church F.C missed many chances which they could have easily scored which led to a nervous finish to the game
