Poinsur Gymkhana ease past Kajupada F.C
Poinsur Gymkhana defeated Kajupada F.C by 4-2 in the 3rd division match of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) at St Xavier’s ground, Parel on 22 April 2015. It was a tough fight between both the teams to be in lead.
Poinsur Gymkhana showed their dominance in the very first minute when Danroy Forseca gave a flight but he missed as his shot went wide towards left of goal.
Poinsur Gymkhana dominated the first half in terms of possession and chances but it was still Kajupada’s Siddhesh Ghatghe who scored the first goal in 8th minute. It was a short range shot straight on target.
Poinsur Gymkhana’s Ronson Lewis curled home in the 10th minute. After shooting from 2 yards he lost his control and feinted on the ground. His efforts helped to equalize the scores. Poinsur Gymkhana and Kajupada were equal by 1-1.
Poinsur Gymkhana however grabbed the lead in 19th minute Ronson Lewis snatched the loose ball which rebound off Goalkeeper and he shot on target. They were ahead by 2-1.
Poinsur Gymkhana’s Danroy Forseca made it 3-1 with a sharp finish from a cross by Vicky Shah. The goalkeeper failed to make a save and they grabbed the lead.
It was an action packed first half. Poinsur Gymkhana were ahead by 3-1.
Kajupada F.C were in pressure during the second half as they were far behind in terms of goals.
Kajupada F.C made attempts to score in the second half. Siddhesh Ghatghe in the 30th minute gave a flight to a free kick from 6 yards. His shot was blocked by the goalkeeper.
Kajupada F.C’s Siddhesh Ghatge’s efforts were awarded in 40th minute when his shot went slashing on the target. He was blocked by opponent’s team player but he skipped him and shot from 6yards. They were now at 3-2. Only one goal behind Poinsur Gymkhana.
Poinsur Gymkhana gave a good defensive show but with time they played in an aggressive manner. Abhishek Dubey was given yellow card in 45th minute as he deliberately pushed a player while making a move.
As the time was nearing both the teams were under pressure and trying their level best to get in the lead.
Poinsur Gymkhana’s Drumid Kakkad scored the winning goal in the last minute. He ran along with the ball and shot from 2 yards. Defenders failed to defend as he had space to make his move. The match ended in a 4-2 triumph for Poinsur Gymkhana.
With the full time whistle the match ended with Poinsur Gymkhana being the winners. They were physically, tactically and mentally ahead by Kajupada F.C.
