Bosco Pereira takes Goregaon SC to 3rd place Glory in 1st Division
Bosco Pereira’s Brace in the 42nd Minute lead Goregaon SC to secure 3rd place finish in 1st Division MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) 2014-15 as they Defeated Salsette FC 1-0 on 18th April, 2015 held at Xavier’s Ground ‘Parel’.
The 3rd place match was a battle of the equals as both Goregaon SC and Salsette FC tried their best to strike the opening goal in the first half. With a strong defence by Goregaon SC and Salsette FC Strikers losing chances to score the first half came to a goal less end.
As the second half started, Bosco Pereira received an incredible through ball which he controlled and dribbled towards Salsette Goalkeeper and kicked as the ball went away from the diving goalkeepers reach.
The goal in the 42nd minute by Bosco Pereira made the match ever interesting. 6 minutes later, another worthy try came from Bosco Pereira, the same scenario with Goalkeeper diving to save but the ball was wide off target.
One of the worthy attempts by Salsette came in the 52nd minute as Sahil Mukane and Jayesh Bambardekar broke into a 1-2 passing and Sahil Mukane was about to score when the Goregaon SC goalie, Jason D’souza intervened to deny Salsette FC for the equalizer.
Mayur Shirke came in the second half for Goregaon SC, the right half’s entry increased Goregaon SC’s chance to score the second goal as well. The trio of Kasif Siddiqui, Mayur Shirke and Bosco Perira continued their attacks on Salsette’s goal post.
As the Final whistle blew, Bosco Pereira’s sole goal in the 42nd minute had taken Goregaon SC to clinch the 3rd Place in the 1st Division 2014-15.
