Central Railway emerges victorious against Dena Bank amidst a number of offsides

Central Railway beat Dena Bank by a 1-0 score line, in the Mumbai District Football Association Elite division match at the Cooperage ground. Both the teams showed equal might in the first half, trying hard to score but failed. Karim Shaikh, the Railways midfielder took a free kick which hit the post was the closest any side came to breaking the deadlock in the first half.
The Bankers were giving their best but the Railway defenders were just too good for them. More than goal scoring opportunities there were more offsides mostly by the Bankers.
Karim Shaikh had another great chance but was dismissed by the keeper. The closest the Bankers came to score was in the 67th minute through Noel Rodrigues who hit the bottom of the post.
The second half was completely dominated by the Railways men. The Railways men did not give up, a corner was taken by Karim Shaikh in the 78th minute which was shot into the net by Rashid Shaikh.
The 88th minute effort could have been the equaliser for the Bankers through Saad Ansari but it just went above the goalpost. Both these teams placed at the bottom two of the elite division, three points for the railway is an added pressure on the bankers.
