MDFA U-14: Quarter-Finals Round-up

After an exciting and thrilling Group Stage of MDFA U-14 Youth League, a total of eight teams, one from each group qualified for the quarter-finals. Mumbai FC, MSSA, ICL, Sagar S.C, Goans, JJ Academy, Salsette, and Phoenix Sports ran out as group winners to seal their place in the next round. Here are the round-up of the quarters:
Lions Municipal Sports Complex
Goans vs Sagar SC
In the opening game of the day, Goans faced Sagar SC in the first quarter-finals at Lions Municipal Sports Complex. Arya Gandharva scored a record six goals against their counterpart to seal a 8-1 victory over Sagar SC. Suraj Kumar and Carl Miranda one each to complete a memorable victory. Meanwhile, Raju Chavan scored the lone goal for Sagar SC.
Mumbai FC vs ICL
In the second quarter-final, Mumbai FC displayed a brilliant performance to see-off ICL 9-1 to book their berth in the semi-finals. Altamash Valsangkar scored a fine hat-trick, whereas, Karm Mulchandani, Raghav Dutta, and Siddharth Konkar each scored twice to complete a fine victory.
Meanwhile for ICL, Yash Sanke scored the only goal.
J.J Academy vs Salsette
In the third quarter-final, J.J Academy defeated Salsette 2-0 in a close match at Lions Municipal Sports Complex. Eashan Kalia and PratikVaplkry scored one each to breeze past their counterpart Salsette. JJ Academy are surely one of the favourites, considering their impressive run over the Tournament.
MSSA vs Phoenix Sports
The last quarter-final between MSSA and Phoenix Sports also turned out to be a tight affair. MSSA continued from where they had left. Rohan Chikale and Amey Kadam scored apiece to overcome Phoenix Sports to confirm their place in the semi-final.
About MDFA Under-16 Youth League 2016 – The MDFA Under-14 Youth League 2016 is organised by the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), promoted by the Sporting Lions and the Technical Partners Mumbai City FC has been kicked-off from 2nd November onwards at Lions Municipal Sports Complex and MSSA Azad Maidan with over 40 teams participating in this extravaganza tournament.
The 40 teams have been pooled in 8 groups with the top team from each group will progress to the quarter-finals. After the completion of the Youth League, the top 4 teams from this tournament will get a chance to play at the State-level Championship which is organised by WIFA (Western India Football Association) as a part of the State Development Program.
