“I am genuinely satisfied with the boys’ performance” – Soccer Saga Head Coach Krupesh Sherwade reflects on club’s debut season

Having just completed their inaugural season in the MFA Super League, Soccer Saga’s head coach, Krupesh Sherwade convey satisfaction with his boys performance, sharing insights into the club’s journey this season, competition structure, and a special mention to their benefactor.

Having gotten the promotion recently and playing the league for the first time, Soccer Saga achieved a commendable finish at 4th spot in the Group A table much to the surprise of everyone. “Yes, I am very happy. This is our first season in the Super League after qualifying from the first division. Soccer Saga finished 4th in the table. I am genuinely satisfied with the boys’ performance.”

Talking about the competition in the group and how his team dealt with it, Krupesh added “Every league is inherently competitive, even the third division. The level of competition is intricately tied to the players’ mentality. The mindset of players is crucial; their determination and dedication define their performance, especially in the Super Division. Other teams were undoubtedly strong, but our focus remains on playing our best. The season was enriching, providing valuable learning experiences. There are numerous talented youngsters with much to learn. Overall, things are positive, and we’ll assess our potential for the upcoming season.”

Talking about the structure of the league, Krupesh appeared content, “The structure is excellent, offering a good number of matches for us to play. Additionally, teams benefit from increased game time, which is crucial. Therefore, the MFA league structure is commendable, and I am content with it.”

Soccer Saga were very much in the play-off race until the final leg of the league, talking about  the missed opportunity of playoff, “In couple of games, we couldn’t achieve the desired end product despite the boys’ commendable overall performance. We lacked in getting more finishes, and goals. Just as in cricket, catches win matches, similarly, in football, goals secure victories. And we will work on it.”

Running a football club is not cheap and Krupesh has a special support in this regard – KP Jwels. Founded during India’s independence, KP Jwels epitomizes excellence in jewelry. Started by Kalipodo Das, the brand’s commitment to quality and elegance set it apart in the industry. Now led by Kunal Das, they expanded into the diamond merchant market, showcasing adaptability and commitment.

The brand has been the major support for Soccer Saga this year. Talking about their support and commitment to the club this season, Coach Krupesh mentioned, “The support from KP Jewels goes beyond sponsorship; it’s a shared commitment to excellence. Just as KP Jewels has adorned the nation with elegance, they’ve adorned our team with the spirit of commitment and passion. Their contribution is not just to our sports association but to the entire community that rallies behind Soccer Saga. We are grateful for their unwavering support.”
