Shark FC and Jyoti FC registers comprehensive victories

Shark FC and Jyoti FC registered comprehensive victories against their counterparts Naaz United and Shiv Sagar FC respectively on the 5th day of Colaba Sports League (CSL) 2016 at Cooperage.

Shark FC 4-0 Naaz United

Four first half goals from Mrunal Tandel, Anil Pawar, Faizal Shaikh and Prakash Khatti helped Nelson Sebastian’s boys to thump Naaz United 4-0 on Monday evening.

Shark FC started off brilliantly and seemed very desperate to open the scoring. It only took them 15 minutes to register their first goal when Captain Mrunal Tandel scored from the edge of the box to deliver a huge blow on Naaz United, who were playing without their star player Rashid Shaikh.

Eight minutes later, winger Anil Pawar made it 2-0 after a brilliant move orchestrated by Mrunal Tandel, Prakash Khatti and Shailesh Jadhav.

Naaz United’s Aditya Controllu had a fine game for his side, but the no. 7 couldn’t  helped his side without the support he needed at the front.

Just when Naaz United thought things are getting in control, junior player Faizal Shaikh scored to make it 3-0 on the 38th minute. It was a huge error from Goalkeeper Manish Shetty who couldn’t managed to keep the ball out as it sneaked past him into the empty net.

Into the additional time, Prakash Khatti scored the fourth and final goal of the game from 25 yards to put the tie to bed in the first half itself.

For his impressive display, Shark FC’s Anil Pawar was named as the man of the match.

Jyoti FC 3-1 Shiv Sagar FC

In the second and final game of the day, Roger Sam inspired his side Jyoti FC to a 3-1 win against league leaders Shiv Sagar FC at Cooperage.

Jyoti FC went behind on the 14th minute itself through Deepak Kanojia’s goal as he poked the loose ball from close range to put Shiv Sagar in front.

Jyoti FC fought back nine minutes later when Marquee player Praneel Mendon scored a beautiful free kick from just outside the box to level the score.

Hasmukh Baria’s side pushed forward in the closing stage of first half which turned out to be very beneficial for his team. Roger Sam danced past his marker and scored a brilliant goal which turned around the match as Jyoti FC took a 2-1 lead going into the second half.

On the 64th minute, Jyoti FC’s junior player Rohan Pagdhare brilliantly lobbed over Goalkeeper Vikas Gupta to make it 3-1, crashing Shiv Sagar hopes of making a comeback.

Roger Sam was adjudged as the man of the match for his stellar performance.
