Six in, three out at Mumbai FC as Khalid Jamil seeks new options

Mumbai FC will look to put behind recent woes when they entertain Sporting Clube de Goa at the Cooperage Stadium on Saturday evening in the tenth round of the Hero I-League. Mumbai FC have home comforts again after two back to back away trips and will be looking to use home comforts to turn their season around. Khalid Jamil’s men are unbeaten in their last six games in Mumbai, and have won four out of those six games.

But the pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Flaming Oranje was all about the mid-season shake up at the club that saw six new players come in at the expense of three players from the squad that were released. Nallappan Mohanraj, Clifford Miranda, Sandeep Nandy, Syed Nabi, Ishfaq Ahmed and Naoba Singh have been brought in to halt Mumbai FC’s mid-season slump, while Malemnganba Metei, Asif Kottayil and Shrikanth Ramu have been released by the club.

Khalid Jamil also confirmed the new signings but revealed that the Sporting game may come too soon for the new signings. “We have signed new players like Sandeep, Clifford, Naoba, Nabi and others, but the paperwork is yet to be completed, so they may not be available for the game on Saturday,” confirmed Khalid Jamil.

“It is always good to have more options in the squad and when I had the chance to add players to my team, I decided to take it. All the new players are very good players who have the experience of playing in the league before. I hope they will perform to the best of their abilities,” Jamil said.

Mumbai FC will be hoping to pick up their first win in a month in the Hero I-League on home turf, but an improving Sporting Clube de Goa side will put the hosts to test in a crucial Saturday evening Hero I-League clash in Mumbai
