Jamnabai Narsee School finishes 3rd in M.S.S.A. Girls under-14 beating Dhirubhai Ambani International School 3-1 on penalties

On the 28th of November ’15, the 2nd Division Girls Under-14 Mumbai Schools Sports Association 3rd place game between Jamnabai Narsee School and Dhirubhai Ambani International School at M.S.S.A. ground, Azad Maidan, C.S.T. After a goalless normal-time the match went into penalties, where Jamnabai Narsee School beat Dhirubhai Ambani International School by 3 goals to 1; thanks to their goalkeeper, who saved three consecutive penalties after the letting-in the first.
Both sides came on the back of defeats; losses which cost them a place in year’s final. But, their approach to this 3rd-place game didn’t lack any degree of commitment and confidence, and both sides looked to finish the tournament on a high-note.
Jamnabai Narsee School started the match on high-note, maintaining a consistent level of pressure on Dhirubhai Ambani International School throughout the game.
The game wouldn’t witness a goal until Jamnabai Narsee School captain no.7 Reya Gandhi dispatched the first of four penalties that will find its target in the penalty shoot-out. Ira Gupta of Dhirubhai Ambani International School leveled the score after converting from her side’s first spot-kick.
But, the game shifted its side in favor of Jamnabai Narsee School, when Reya Gandhi saved the next three penalties while she saw her teammates convert 2 crucial penalties.
A collective team effort came to a fitting-end as Jamnabai Narsee School finished the competition at the 2nd runners-up spot; a position from which they’d certainly wish to escalate in the upcoming season.
