Punjab FC Dominate Early to Seal Convincing 3–1 Win Over Kerala Blasters
Punjab FC produced a clinical first-half performance to defeat Kerala Blasters FC 3–1 in the Indian Super League 2025–26, securing an important away victory in Kochi.
The visitors started with high intensity and quickly took control of the game. Their pressure paid off early when Samir Zeljković capitalised on a well-timed pass, calmly finishing into an empty net after rounding the goalkeeper to give Punjab the lead.
Punjab doubled their advantage in the 18th minute after forcing a turnover in midfield. Zeljković once again played a key role, setting up Bede Osuji, who finished confidently to make it 2–0.
The visitors continued to exploit Kerala’s struggles in possession and added a third before half-time. A powerful effort from Manglenthang Kipgen struck the crossbar, and Dani Ramírez reacted quickest to head in the rebound, giving Punjab a commanding 3–0 lead at the break.
Kerala Blasters showed more intent in the second half and managed to pull one back just after the hour mark. Fallou Ndiaye rose well to head home from close range after a recycled attack, offering a glimmer of hope for the hosts.
Despite their improved display, Kerala were unable to create enough clear chances to mount a comeback. Punjab remained organised at the back and managed the game effectively, limiting the home side’s attacking threat.
The Blasters’ night worsened late on when Marlon Roos-Trujillo was sent off in stoppage time, reducing them to ten men.
Punjab FC comfortably saw out the remainder of the match to secure all three points, with their dominant first-half display proving decisive in a well-earned victory.
