Kalina Rangers Stun IoT FC with a 4–0 Victory

Kalina Rangers - CFF

A dramatic afternoon in the Mumbai Premier League 2025–26 saw Kalina Rangers surge past the formidable IoT FC, netting four goals in a result few would have not predicted.

The two sides entered this encounter with contrasting momentum, but what unfolded over the 90 minutes defied expectations.

IoT FC had been flawless in their previous three games — opening the season with a 2–1 win over Waves, followed by a nail-biting encounter against DK Pharma where they secured all three points with a stoppage-time winner.

Meanwhile, Kalina Rangers were struggling for consistency. Having played five games, they had managed just one win. Their recent fixtures produced mixed outcomes: after leading Bombay Gymkhana 3–1 at halftime, they collapsed to lose 5–3; they then battled to a heated 2–2 draw against Hope, before suffering heartbreak again against MH Oranje FC by conceding a stoppage-time free kick in their last outing.

On paper, momentum heavily favoured IoT FC. But football is played over 90 minutes — and Kalina proved exactly that.

Kalina started the game on the front foot and were rewarded in the 38th minute when Tyson Patel scored a stunning opener. Muthu delivered a curling ball to the far post, where Tyson expertly chested it down, took down Jayraj Ghelani, and buried a peach of a finish into the bottom-left corner.

The second half, however, belonged entirely to Kalina Rangers as they added three more goals.

The Goan sensation Faheez Mohammed, who has now scored in three of his four games since joining Kalina Rangers, struck again in the 65th minute. Tyson initiated a quick counterattack and threaded a delightful through ball to Faheez, who was brought down inside the penalty area by Bilal Modak. The foul earned Bilal a straight red card, reducing IoT FC to ten men. Faheez stepped up and calmly sent goalkeeper Yashleel the wrong way, slotting the ball into the right.

With momentum firmly in their favour and control of the game established, Kalina added a third in the 83rd minute. It was a beautifully constructed team goal, starting from the back. Shoaib Baig drove into the IoT half and played a perfectly weighted through pass to the right wing. The winger timed his movement well and squared the ball across goal for Soudagar Mote, who tapped it into an open net.

Deep into stoppage time, Shoaib Baig put the final nail in the coffin. Displaying quick feet and brilliant control, he dribbled past three defenders inside the box before finishing clinically to cap off a sensational performance and seal a memorable win for Kalina Rangers.

This season of the MPL continues to deliver drama at every turn. Stay tuned for continued coverage.
