Iron Born Snatch Late Winner to Secure First MPL Victory of the season

by Chandler D'silva January 5, 2026

The match saw CFCI take on Iron Born in a match that could go either side in the Mumbai Premier League. CFCI will look to come back on winning terms in this game after a huge loss against MYJ in their last outing and Iron Born coming off a hard defeat against Millat FC will look to get their first win of the season in this game.

The first half was equally poised with both teams looking to break on the counter catching the other team off guard. Even tho both teams were looking for counters the first goal came for CFCI from a long range finish from Pathrose which hit the post first and then bounced of the keeper and entered the net to put CFCI in front in the 8th minute. Iron Born turned up their attacking threats after they conceded and also got a few shots on goal but the keeper had it covered. However after all those attempts, Uzair tried a long range shot which dipped over the CFCI keeper who failed to judge the ball which got Iron Born the equaliser in the 26th minute. The score was all square at the end of the first half with all to play for in the next 45 minutes.

The second half started with CFCI pressing the ball and looking the more hungry team to take the lead for the second time in the game but the Iron Born defence didn’t fold easily and gave them a tough battle at the back with Saud Hakim putting in important tackles and clearances for Iron Born. CFCI kept testing the Iron Born keeper and forced a lot of saves from him however, Iron Born got one good chance on the counter and converted that through Kshom who scored a beauty in the dying minutes of the game to win it for Iron Born and complete the comeback and also register their first win of the season.

CFCI will have to look back on this performance after they fumbled their lead and the 3 points making it back to back losses for them.
