MH Oranje FC Open MPL Campaign With a Strong 3–0 Win Over DK Flag Foundation
The second match of the Mumbai Premier League 2025–26 saw MH Oranje FC and DK Flag Foundation face off in what was expected to be a closely contested battle, with both sides eager to secure their first points of the new season. While Oranje walked away with a 3–0 victory, the game offered competitive moments from both teams and a clear storyline of two sides trying to find their rhythm early in the campaign.
The first half began with Oranje settling quicker into the match. They kept the ball well and moved it with confidence, creating the early openings. Their striker Duane Dsouza found himself at the end of several promising passes but couldn’t convert, missing a few chances that could have put Oranje ahead earlier.
DK Flag Foundation, meanwhile, defended with discipline. Their backline stayed organised, blocking shots inside the box and cutting out dangerous counterattacks. Despite Oranje’s pressure, DK managed to hold their structure and wait for their moments to break forward.
The breakthrough arrived in the 11th minute, when Oranje capitalised on a set piece. Shane Aranha rose highest and guided a precise header into the corner, giving his side a 1–0 lead. DK responded with spells of possession but struggled to create clear chances against Oranje’s compact defence.
Right before halftime, Oranje found their second. Last season’s standout attacker Mohammed Khatib struck a superb long-range effort from outside the box, giving the DK keeper no chance and sending Oranje into the break with a 2–0 advantage.
The second half opened with renewed energy from DK Flag Foundation. They circulated the ball better, pushed higher up the pitch, and showed more attacking intent. Their captain led by example, making crucial interventions and keeping the team competitive through the early stages of the half.
However, Oranje maintained their threat going forward. Chrispin Ryan caused problems on the wings with his pace and direct play, delivering dangerous balls into the box. The pressure eventually told when substitute Dipu Neupane made an immediate impact, scoring in the 79th minute to make it 3–0 and effectively seal the match.
Despite the scoreline, DK Flag Foundation showed resilience and several encouraging phases of play, especially in the second half. Oranje, on the other hand, will be pleased with their strong start, clinical finishing and the depth shown through contributions from both starters and substitutes.
As the MPL season progresses, both teams will take valuable lessons from this encounter – Oranje gaining confidence from a complete performance, and DK Flag Foundation focusing on the positives as they look to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.
