ROQS FCs season opener: A spirited display despite narrow defeat
ROQS FC kicked off their MFA Super League campaign with an exhilarating showdown against Skorost United. There were some promising performances showcasing potential despite the result
The game showcased ROQS FC’s determination and potential, even though the final scoreline didn’t reflect their efforts. The clash was marked by moments of brilliance, near misses, and an unwavering spirit that signifies a promising journey ahead.
Bright Start: ROQS FC burst onto the pitch with a bright start, showcasing their attacking intent. Maanit Arora initiated a brilliant move on the wings, sending in a cross into the box that narrowly missed its intended target. On the other side, Bhupati Chandara of Skorost United attempted a threatening cross into the box, but ROQS FC’s goalkeeper, Gaurav Chavan, came forward decisively to punch the ball out of harm’s way, denying the Skorost strikers a chance.
Taking the Lead: ROQS FC didn’t take long to capitalize on their early momentum. Pranit Vyas tracked a precise through ball, masterfully breaking the offside trap and finding himself one-on-one with the keeper. With composure and precision, Pranit found the back of the net, sending ROQS FC into the lead.
Double Trouble: The momentum swung back and forth as both teams pressed for opportunities. Skorost United’s Rishikesh Shinde attempted to pull his side back into the game with a header, but ROQS FC’s keeper thwarted his efforts with a well-timed jump to catch the ball.
ROQS FC extended their advantage with a well-executed sequence. A high ball around the edge of the box was expertly headed by Pranit, setting up Sujal in space. Sujal’s first-time strike eluded the keeper, nestling into the bottom left corner, delighting the ROQS faithful.
Ups and Downs: ROQS FC almost made it 3-0 from a corner routine, but Aaron’s shot narrowly missed the target. Minutes before halftime, Skorost United managed to pull one back. A shot from outside the box struck the bottom side of the top bar before crossing the goal line, earning Skorost a lifeline.
Second Half Effort: As the second half commenced, Skorost United pushed to level the score, capitalizing on ROQS FC’s fatigue. Skorost’s Shubham, with his pace and trickery, proved a formidable presence for an inexperienced ROQS full-back. Despite the challenge, ROQS FC’s defense held firm, with moments of brilliance from both sides.

Heartbreak in the Final Moments: Skorost United found the equalizer through Bhupati, who expertly connected with Shubham’s cross, slotting the ball into the net. In the dying minutes of the game, Shubham once again showcased his skills, launching a dangerous cross that unfortunately deflected off a ROQS defender and found its way into the net.
Despite the narrow defeat, ROQS FC exhibited a spirited performance that holds the promise of a thrilling season ahead. The team’s resilience, attacking prowess, and determined defense underscore their potential to shine in the MFA Super League. The journey is just beginning, and ROQS FC fans can look forward to many exciting moments as the team continues to grow and evolve on the field.
