MI-TAS Report: A Comprehensive Player Assessment Tool by IKF

In a move aimed at advancing the quality of Indian football and nurturing homegrown talent, the India Khelo Football (IKF) initiative has introduced the Multi-Dimension Integrated Technical Assessment Scoresheet (MI-TAS).

This innovative reporting structure serves as a comprehensive player assessment tool, offering valuable insights into the strengths and areas of improvement for Indian players. MI-TAS underscores the commitment of IKF to elevate the footballing standards within the country.

The MI-TAS Framework:

MI-TAS, an acronym for Multi-Dimension Integrated Technical Assessment Scoresheet, presents a systematic approach to evaluating players across various dimensions. The assessment is carried out by PFSA/IPSO certified scouts, experts in their field, who provide ratings on a scale of 1 to 5. These ratings convey specific nuances and insights about the player’s performance.

Rating Scale and Interpretation and Categories:

Ratings within the MI-TAS system range from 1 (indicating a need for improvement) to 5 (denoting exceptional proficiency). The ratings carry the following meanings:

1 – Needs to work hard on this

2 – Very basic

3 – Acceptable but there is scope for improvement

4 – Very good

5 – Exceptional

Position-Specific Ratings:

MI-TAS categorizes players into three primary positions:

1. Attackers (Striker, Forward, Centre-Forward, Second-Striker)

2. Midfielders (CM, RM, LM, Winger – LW/RW, CDM)

3. Defenders (CB, FB, WB)

The ratings assigned to each player are derived from a thorough comparative analysis of all participants present on the field, ensuring an objective assessment of skills and performance.

Quality Check and Objectivity:

To maintain accuracy and credibility, the MI-TAS report undergoes a “Quality Check” process conducted by senior scouts. The report’s objectivity is achieved through the use of absolute numerical ratings. Each attribute rating can be interpreted objectively by considering the rating across each attribute, leading to a conclusive assessment of the player’s current status.

Methodology and Duration:

The ratings are determined after observing the player’s performance over a span of 30 to 40 minutes. It’s important to note that MI-TAS offers a summary report. For an in-depth analysis, a competitive environment with a minimum of 4 hours of game time across multiple days is required.

Attribute Grouping:

MI-TAS groups attributes under four categories based on the technical, tactical, physical, and psychosocial aspects. This approach ensures a well-rounded evaluation, catering to the diverse facets of a player’s abilities. The alignment of attributes under these categories takes precedence over politically correct groupings.

Finality of Ratings and Scout Confidentiality:

Ratings provided by MI-TAS are considered final, and requests for changes are not entertained. This approach maintains the integrity of the assessment process and encourages players to focus on improving their skills. The identities of the scouts who rate the players remain confidential, emphasizing a fair and unbiased evaluation process.

The MI-TAS framework introduced by IKF represents a significant step towards nurturing and enhancing the footballing talent pool in India. By providing a comprehensive and objective assessment of players, MI-TAS empowers individuals to focus on areas of improvement and showcases IKF’s dedication to raising the standards of Indian football. As the sport continues to evolve in the country, the MI-TAS report serves as a valuable tool for players, coaches, and football enthusiasts alike.
