MH Oranje FC clinched a significant 2-1 win over Reliance FYC in the penultimate game of the MFA Mumbai Premier League 2023-24, taking a step closer to finishing their campaign strong. With implications for league standings, Reliance FYC sit’s in fourth place with 27 points, while MH Oranje FC trailed just behind with 26 points. This encounter would shape the season’s conclusion for both clubs, adding extra pressure and drama to the game.
The opening stages saw Reliance FYC assert themselves, with their right-back delivering a teasing cross into the box that was cleared by MH Oranje FC’s Noel Dias. The pace picked up as Reliance pressed with another cross from the left flank, but Alan’s header sailed wide. MH Oranje FC responded with precision; Pratik Jadhav, their goalkeeper, showed composure as he collected Silajit’s long-range attempt with ease. Despite the early pressure from Reliance, MH Oranje FC’s defense remained solid, keeping the game tight.
The deadlock was broken in the 30th minute, courtesy of a well-orchestrated Transition from defense-attack by MH Oranje FC. A throw-in near their box led to Jordan Koli finding Aashish Lalge in middle, who threaded the ball to Sanchit Singh. Sanchit Singh Showcasing his brilliance and dribbled past two defenders with ease before setting up Yogesh Kadam, who calmly tapped in a half-volley, sending the ball into the net. MH Oranje FC took the lead just after the drinks break, capitalizing on a strategic adjustment from the sidelines.
Reliance FYC quickly regrouped, with Narendra attempting to catch Pratik Jadhav off-guard with a long-range lob from the halfway line. Jadhav, however, was alert and backpedaled in time to prevent the goal. Just before halftime, MH Oranje FC doubled their lead with a stunning goal. Once again, Sanchit Singh played the role of provider, delivering the ball to Yogesh Kadam, who took on Harsh Palande before slotting it into the bottom-left corner. With a 2-0 lead, MH Oranje FC entered the break with momentum on their side.
In the second half, Reliance FYC came out firing, seeking to overturn the deficit. They pressed hard, with Shubham Bhattacharya switching play to the right flank and delivering a cross that Alan’s header narrowly missed. A few minutes later, Pratik Jadhav made a spectacular fingertip save, denying Prantik’s powerful shot from outside the box.

In the 70th minute, Yogesh Kadam missed a golden opportunity to complete his hat-trick. with Pratik Jadhav catching the ball mid-air to launch a fast break. He threw it to Sanchit, who then lobbed it to the right flank for Aashish Lalge. Lalge skillfully took on his marker and delivered a precise thread pass to Yogesh Kadam on the left side. Yogesh found space and attempted a one-touch finish, but his shot was expertly saved by Malhar, keeping the MH Oranje FC attack at bay.
Reliance FYC’s persistence paid off in the 80th minute when their skipper, Supratim, scored from a set-piece. A careless tackle by MH Oranje FC’s defense led to the free kick, and Supratim’s perfectly placed shot found the top-right corner, leaving Jadhav with no chance to save. With the game back to 2-1, the pressure was on both teams to secure a favorable result.
In the final minutes, Reliance FYC launched a attack, but MH Oranje FC’s defense stood firm. The final whistle blew, sealing a 2-1 victory for MH Oranje FC. The win propelled them to third place in the league standings, setting the stage for their final game against Millat FC on May 6th. Key performances came from Yogesh Kadam, who scored two goals, Sanchit Singh with his assists, and Noel Dias for his solid defense and exellence from Aashis lalge in midfield. Reliance FYC still has a chance to finish strong if they win their last game.
