Vallejo’s Stoppage-Time Strike Rescues FC Goa Against Sporting Club Delhi

FC Goa snatched a dramatic 1-1 draw against Sporting Club Delhi in the MG Indian Super League (ISL) 2026-27 at the Fatorda Stadium on Wednesday, thanks to Álex Vallejo’s stoppage-time equaliser. Juan Pena’s 52nd-minute strike had put Delhi on course for their first win of the campaign, but Vallejo struck in the fifth minute of added time to ensure the hosts came away with a point.

Both teams started with attacking intent, pressing high and looking to establish an early advantage. FC Goa created the first opportunity in the eighth minute when Samsanga narrowly missed the target at the far post. The forward thought he had broken the deadlock in the 19th minute after being played through by Francisco Feuillassier, but his effort was ruled out for offside.

The hosts continued to threaten as the first half progressed, with Muhammed Nemil coming close in the 37th minute. After controlling the ball superbly to create space in the final third, Nemil unleashed an effort that sailed just over the crossbar, leaving Goa frustrated as the teams went into the break without a goal.

Goa resumed the second half on the front foot and nearly took the lead when Nemil picked out Feuillassier inside the six-yard box. However, Sporting Club Delhi goalkeeper Nora Fernandes produced a crucial save to keep the scores level and give his side a platform to respond.

Delhi made the most of that opportunity in the 52nd minute. Launching a quick counterattack, Rodrigunho supplied the assist for Juan Pena, who finished emphatically with his right foot to put the visitors ahead. The goal shifted the pressure onto Goa, who now had to chase the game in search of an equaliser.

As the match entered its closing stages, FC Goa increased their attacking pressure. A defensive error from Delhi presented Vallejo with an opportunity in the first minute of stoppage time, but the resulting cross failed to produce an equaliser as Chiki could not hit the target.

Goa continued to push forward, and their persistence finally paid off in the 90+5th minute. Feuillassier delivered a dangerous free-kick into the penalty area, where Vallejo timed his run perfectly and turned the ball home in front of the goalkeeper to spark celebrations among the home supporters.

The late goal proved decisive, denying Sporting Club Delhi a hard-earned victory and rescuing a point for FC Goa. While Delhi will be disappointed to have conceded so late after coming within minutes of securing their first win, Goa will take encouragement from their determination to fight until the final whistle in a closely contested encounter.
