Mixed results in Goa as Ambernath United Atlanta FC’s 40-match unbeaten run ends

Ambernath United Atlanta FC’s trip to Goa for the away games against FC Goa and Dempo SC ended on a mixed note with the latter ending their unbeaten streak.
It was their first loss in the last two years, as their 40-match unbeaten streak came to an end against Dempo SC.
In their first match against FC Goa’s Development Team, Ambernath managed to salvage a point with a 3-3 draw at the Nagoa Panchayat Ground.
Himanshu Patil, Ashley Koli, and Arif Shaikh scored the goals for Ambernath United Atlanta FC. Patil equalized for the visitors in the 14th minute with a well-placed header, while Koli scored a brilliant goal just two minutes later to give Ambernath the lead.
However, FC Goa’s Jordan Borges converted a penalty in the 27th minute to bring the scores level again. In the second half, Arif Shaikh put Ambernath back in front in the 62nd minute with a well-placed shot. But Goa’s Bryson Pereira headed in a late equalizer in the 75th minute to end the game in a draw.

In their second game against Dempo SC, Ambernath United Atlanta FC suffered a 2-1 defeat despite taking an early lead. Ashley Koli scored a fine curling free-kick from 22 yards to give Ambernath the lead in the first half.
However, Dempo SC made a strong comeback in the second half and equalized through Shallum Pires in the 51st minute. Necio Fernandes then scored the winning goal for Dempo in the 60th minute with a looping header from close range. Ambernath United Atlanta FC tried their best to get back into the game, but they failed to convert their chances.
Despite the loss, AUA FC can still challenge for the top spot with upcoming home games. They currently sit in the third spot in the league table with five points from four games, three behind the league leaders but with 4 more matches to go in the group.
