Bombay Gymkhana FC emerges victorious in a thrilling encounter against Mumbai Ultras FC, claiming the top spot in MFA Super League Group A

In a pivotal group A fixture, Bombay Gymkhana FC clashed with Mumbai Ultras FC, each eyeing a crucial victory that would significantly impact their standings in the league. The game unfolded with both teams displaying determination, making it a high-stakes encounter.

The early minutes favored Bombay Gymkhana, with Saif Caleb capitalizing on a well-placed long ball in the 6th minute. A chested down ball at the edge of the Ultras’ box was met with a slashing strike from Caleb, giving his team an early lead.

Mumbai Ultras responded with intensified attacks, notably with Joyson Chettiar hitting the post midway through the first half. However, Bombay Gymkhana extended their advantage in the 36th minute when Siddharth Singh found the net with a well-executed strike.

The second half saw a spirited start for Mumbai Ultras, as they swiftly narrowed the gap to 2-1. Joyson Chettiar seized an opportunity from a corner, persistently following up on a blocked shot to score and reduce the deficit.

Yet, Bombay Gymkhana quickly reestablished their two-goal lead, with Saif Caleb chipping the ball over the keeper after a long cross from the right wing into the box, making it 3-1.

Around the hour mark, Mumbai Ultras once again showed resilience, as Khurshid Ali set up Robert Elangovan on the right. Elangovan skillfully maneuvered past his marker, firing a shot into the bottom left corner, bringing the score to 3-2.

The closing moments witnessed a frenetic exchange of attacks, with Ultras pushing for an equalizer and Bombay Gymkhana seeking opportunities on the counter. Despite compelling chances on both ends, the score remained unchanged.

Bombay Gymkhana’s triumph propelled them to the top of the Group A league table, while Mumbai Ultras, now in the 3rd spot, is separated by only 2 points. With the top 4 teams closely contested, the final rounds promise an exhilarating conclusion to the group stage.
