Dipu Neupane MYJ-GMSC

The Wednesday afternoon game saw MYJ-GMSC face off against Kenkre FC in Mumbai premier league encounter with substitute Dipu Neupane and Tousif Malik starring with goals.

Both teams had contrasting start to the campaign. MYJ-GMSC came into the game unbeaten with two wins and a draw from 3 games while Kenkre FC had 3 Losses and 1 win to their name from 4 matches.

Kenkre started confidently and created first chance of the game, when Pawan Pattem headed just wide of the target off a corner.

MYJ-GMSC responded with a attack of their won as Tanmay wins a freekick right at the edge of the box. Keegan’s freekick comes off the wall. Around the half hour mark, Shamer Swamy gets on the ball and tries a shot from outside the box but ball deflects off a defender and goes straight to the keeper.

Kenkre pressed well in the game keeping MYJ-GMSC on their toes and in the 41st minute finally managed to breach the defence when Raul Almeida moved a loose ball into the MYJGMSC box and cut it back across for Umang Surti who finished it off into the net and broke the deadlock making it 1-0.

In the dying minutes of the half, Shamer Swamy went close to scoring from the left but his shot hit the side netting.

With his side trailing, Coach Vijith Shetty rung up two changes at the break, bringing in Dipu Neupane and Nayan Kajve. Dipu didn’t disappoint his coach as within minutes of the restart, he latched on to a deflected ball inside the box before firing in a shot past the keeper to pull the game back on level terms

MYJ-GMSC kept the tempo of the game high, looking to take the lead and pushing Kenkre to their defensive half. Around the hour mark, Referee awarded a penalty for MYJ-GMSC for a foul inside the box, however Keegan’s spotkick goes wide of the target.

In the 76th minute, MYJ-GMSC received a setback when Dhruwesh Nijap’s mistimed challenge at the edge of box meant referee gave him his marching orders. Raul Almeida’s freekick comes off the bar as MYJ get a breather.

Despite going a man down, MYJ-GMSC continued to attack and in the 80th minute, were rewarded for their persistence when Keegan’s delivery to the far post was struck across Kenkre box by Shamer Swamy with a reverse kick. Substitute Dipu Neupane rushed in with a diving header to put the ball into the net and make it 2-1

Later in the final parts of the game, another attack from the left sees Dipu try to control a low cross at the centre of the box, the ball generously fell for his teammate Tousif Malik who struck home from close range *to make it 3-1 and put the game to bed.

With this win, MYJ-GMSC move back to the top 5 with 10 points from 4 games and alongside four teams who are all at 10 points in the league table.
