Dominant MSP dents West Zone United’s playoff chances in a 4-0 Rout

In a pivotal Mumbai Super League Group C clash, Mumbai Soccer Prodigies (MSP) deals a severe blow to West Zone United’s playoff hopes with 4-0 thrashing.
Despite MSP being out of the top 2 contention, the game had significant implications for West Zone United, who had an opportunity to move to the third position ahead of Mumbai City FC and stay in contention for play offs.
The match kicked off with MSP exhibiting sheer determination. Nihal and Lokesh Bogi orchestrated a splendid combination on the left wing, resulting in Lokesh breaking the deadlock with a skillful maneuver past the defenders and a clinical finish.
In the 15th minute, Lokesh turned provider, delivering a precise ball into the box that Nihal converted with finesse, extending MSP’s lead to 2-0. The onslaught continued two minutes later when Gaurav’s through ball found Nihal, who, with deft touches and a composed finish, notched his second goal, leaving West Zone United struggling at 3-0.
The second half saw MSP maintaining control, dictating the tempo and creating several opportunities. Meanwhile, West Zone United struggled to make an impact, failing to test the vigilant MSP keeper.
In the initial moments of injury time, Deep Moorjani’s brilliant through ball found substitute Swayam Jain, who capitalized on the opportunity, rounding up the keeper to make it 4-0.
The closing minutes witnessed a setback for West Zone United as Gajendra Kumar received a second yellow card, resulting in his dismissal. The final whistle confirmed MSP’s comprehensive 4-0 victory, securing them the 6th position with 13 points. In contrast, West Zone United, with 16 points from 8 games, now faces a daunting challenge to secure a top 2 spot.
