Late stunner from Gokul gives Charkop 2-1 win over Mumbai Soccer Prodigies

In a riveting clash between Charkop FC & Mumbai Soccer Prodigies, a late stunner from Gokul gave Charkop the win

In a riveting clash between Charkop FC and Mumbai Soccer Prodigies (MSP), both teams engaged in a relentless battle until a late stunner from Gokul gave Charkop the win in the Mumbai Super League Group C encounter.

The early stages saw MSP’s Deep Moorjani showcase individual brilliance, weaving past two defenders and delivering a low cross into the box. The subsequent headed clearance by Charkop FC’s defense fell to MSP’s Akshay Chavan, whose attempt from a distance was valiantly blocked.

The deadlock was broken in a dramatic fashion as MSP capitalized on a corner. A well-executed cross found Varad Parab, whose soaring header nestled into the net, giving MSP a crucial 1-0 lead.

Charkop FC, undeterred, sought opportunities of their own. A free-kick near the byline provided a chance, but a clever dummy run and subsequent attempt by Sivadutt S were thwarted by MSP’s resolute defense. Aarfas VC regained the ball and cuts his man with some cheeky skills inside the box before attempting a shot eventually saved by the MSP keeper Jacob Sabu

In a turn of events, Charkop FC found the equalizer. Pranay Bhandari embarked on a penetrating run into the box, attempting a cross that fortuitously deflected off a teammate, Fahad, and found the back of the net, leveling the score at 1-1.

As the halftime whistle blew, both teams regrouped for a fiercely contested second half.

Charkop FC continued their attacking prowess, creating notable chances. Jenin capitalized on a defensive lapse, finding himself alone in the box, but a goal-line clearance by Nitesh Aswani denied Charkop FC the lead.

The second half witnessed Charkop FC’s dominance in possession, with relentless pressure on MSP’s defense. Numerous attempts, including shots from Aarfas VC from a close range and Sagar Gawade’s shot on target moments later were thwarted by MSP’s goalkeeper Jacob Sabu.

However the defining chance came for Charkop FC in the dying moments of the game, when Gokul with space in front of him, unleashed a shot from distance that nestle into the back of the net, securing a 2-1 victory, and subsequently capping off their second-half dominance
