Odisha FC signs two new youngsters

After finishing at the bottom of the points table in the 2020-21 ISL season, Odisha FC has signed Sahil Panwar from Hyderabad FC and Sebastian Thangmuansang from I-League champions Gokulam to make their side more robust and better for the next season, as Spanish legend David Villa also joins them as an advisor.

The signings shall be officially completed once the Indian transfer window opens in summer.

Sahil Panwar:

The 21-year-old left-back joins Odisha next season for an undisclosed transfer fee. He signed a two-year contract with an option of extension.

Sahil started his career at a very young age three years back with FC Pune City, and then in 2019, he left for Hyderabad FC. An exceptional talent who has also represented India in various age-groups tournaments and captained the national side in the 2017 South Asian Football Federation U-18 Championship.

Sebastian Thangmuansang:

The Manipuri defender decides to make a comeback in ISL after he left FC Pune City in 2019. The 22-year-old recently won the I-League title with Gokulam this year, and his quality skills were enough to attract interests from many ISL clubs.

Sebastian plays as a right-back and has been impressive since the start. He also represented two I-League teams after his exit from Pune, NEROCA FC and Chennai City FC.

Speaking on the new signing, OFC CEO Mr Rohan Sharma commented, “We are very excited to have Sebastian join our club. We’ve been tracking him for the past two years, and we are glad he’s finally joined the team.”

“We are delighted Sebastian has agreed to join Odisha FC. He is one of the most promising defenders in the country and will add further depth and quality to the team,” expressed Club President Mr Raj Athwal.

After joining Odisha FC, Sebastian stated, “I am excited to be a part of Odisha FC and continue my football journey with them. I hope to repay the trust shown on me by the management, give my best for the team and make the fans happy. Can’t wait to meet my new teammates and start training with them.”
