Hero Futsal Club Championship: Delhi register thumping win, 7Wasa hold TRAU

Delhi FC score 16 to register a dominating victory over Telongjem FC

The highest-scoring game of the Hero Futsal Club Championship so far, the start of matchday two was even better than anyone could have expected. In a topsy-turvy game in the first half, Delhi FC took the game by the scruff of the neck after the break to bag all three points in their opening fixture of the tournament.

Delhi FC started the match on the front foot, as they went ahead within a minute via a goal by Nikhil Mali. Awang though soon equalized from the penalty spot for Telongjem FC, but Peka sprinted for the counter-attack to immediately put his side back into the lead. Peka scored another one for his team, with Sunep pulling one back for Telongjem FC. All of this action had taken place inside the first six minutes of the match.

With the scores at 3-2, Telongjem FC put their foot on the gas. Three goals in three minutes by Sunep, Khakhevi, and Bapen put the Nagaland-based side two goals in front, turning the game on its head. The topsy-turvy ride continued after the 10-minute mark, as Peka, Fahad Temuri and two goals from Nikhil Mali gave a two-goal lead to Delhi FC. This meant that at the half-time mark, Delhi FC had the advantage.

As both sides came out for the second half, no one could predict how the game would go. Sunep scored a couple of minutes after the restart for Telongjem but Rohit Mulchandani regained the two-goal cushion for Delhi FC. After that though, it was a rampage by the team in blue.

Jojo, Nikhil Mali, Remruata, Fahad Temuri, and another goal by Nikhil Mali took their lead to seven goals in the game. In this process, they also became the first team to score more than a dozen goals in the Hero Futsal Club Championship so far. Three goals at the death by Chanpreet, Rohit Mulchandani and Sanga made sure that Delhi FC secured a dominating victory over Telongjem FC.

Delhi FC will be in a buoyant mood going into the next game. As for Telongjem FC, they started very well, even possessing a two-goal lead at one point in the first half. However, they will be looking to avoid any further injuries, and working on their stamina will be a priority before their next match.

Even-stevens as 7Wasa and TRAU cancel each other out

7 Wasa United Sport & Cultural Club (7Wasa) drew against Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU) as we witnessed one of the most highly-contested games in the Hero Futsal Club Championship so far.

The game started in a very controlled manner, with neither team going for an all-out attack strategy. A cagey affair was what followed as a result, with half-chances here and there for both teams. However, the game lit up in the second half and lived up to the billing.

Four minutes into the second half, Milan Singh opened the scoring for TRAU as he smashed one into the back of the net. This made sure that 7Wasa broke free as well. An immediate reply came from the team from Meghalaya. They earned a penalty as Joysana Singh committed a foul inside the area and it was dispatched by Civility. Milan Singh scored again in the 30th minute to give TRAU the lead, but Civility did the same as well. A long-range shot from the 7Wasa man took a couple of deflections before ending up into the back of the net.

Both teams tried to win all three points in the dying embers of the game but had to settle for one each. 7Wasa will take on Telongjem FC in their next match, while TRAU’s next assignment will be against an in-form Delhi FC side who took apart Telongjem FC earlier in the day.
