WIFA Inter District: Thane, Yavatmal, Solapur & Palghar qualify

A fruitful day at the WIFA Inter-District Sub Junior Girl’s Football Championship hosted four matches in gameday 2.
The opening encounter of the day hosted Aurangabad against Thane. During the initial exchanges, both the teams created opportunities but failed to open the scoring which led to a feisty first half concluded with no goals. However, in the second half, Sanika W scored the only goal at the 48th minute, which turned out to be enough for Thane’s qualification to the next round.
On the second encounter, Yavatmal played out a dominant performance against Jalna. Gaining an early goal through Bhagyashri, who later scored a hat-trick, the team kept on maintaining the momentum. Within a few minutes, Kalyani Panpatte doubled the lead. Before the first half concluded, Bhagyashree scored the other two goals at the 11th and the 22nd minute. Yavatmal was leading with a commendable scoreline at the first half. In the second half, nothing changed as Sanika Rokade netted twice to vanquish Jalna by a massive six-goal margin.
The third game of the day saw Solapur play a five-star performance against Sangli. Solapur opened the score tally with Gayatri’s effort at the 7th minute. Vaishnavi added to the list and scored the second goal at the 15th minute. Solapur was up by two goals at half time. The second half kicked off only to see Solapur prevail. Priti Kagde starred in the second half as she went on to score a hat-trick. The match concluded seeing Solapur qualify to the next round with a memorable victory.
Palghar played the final match of the day against Jalgaon. Both sides ended on equal terms at the end of the first half. However, as the second half commenced, Palghar seemed to field with more composure and intent. Their perseverance soon bore fruits as Jenisha broke the deadlock at the 27th minute. Maintaining the lead, Palghar kept on attacking and Aditi Chaubey doubled the lead at the 39th minute. The second goal happened to be enough to put smiles on the home team, as the final whistle of the game saw Palghar qualify to the next round of the WIFA Inter-District Sub Junior Girl’s Championship.
