2nd Division I-League: Mumbai City Reserves hold FC Kerala to a draw

In yesterday’s Hero 2nd Division I-League fixture, Mumbai City Reserves scored a late goal to spoil FC Kerala’s high spirits. Conceding a goal at the second half, Mumbai somehow managed to gain a point in the end.

Mumbai’s hardships continue as the Reserves outfit has only been able to manage a point after playing three games. Playing two consecutive home games, where the Islanders succumbed to a late thriller against Bengaluru United on their previous outing, the only positive from yesterday’s match is the  team has opened its points tally.

As it stands, after consecutive good starts, the Islanders are getting worn out after the hour mark. In the previous game against Bengaluru, Mumbai conceded at the 81st minute. Similarly, Mumbai trailed by a goal at the 74th minute, due to a defensive error in the box, which gifted the Southerners with a penalty.
Kerala’s Mousuf Naizan made no mistake from the spot-kick and scored from the opportunity. Mumbai equalised at the fag end of the match when a defensive blunder saw FC Kerala’s Melwin Thomas put the ball back into his own net. The Islanders grasped a point during the stoppage time.

As of now, Mumbai City Reserves are placed in the 4th position of the Group-C table after playing 3 matches, and having 2 yet to be played. Mumbai City Reserves are slated to host bottom-placed Kerala Blasters Reserves in their next outing on 13th of February, at the Cooperage Stadium.
FULL TIME SCORE:

Mumbai City Reserves 1-1 FC Kerala (Mousuf Naizan 74′ (P) Melwin Thomas 89′ (OG))
