Super Division: Jamal magic breaks Veniza hearts!

Mumbai, February 25, 2019: Central Railway left it late as Kashif Jamal starred in a 1-0 win against Veniza Virar at the Neville D’Souza Ground on Monday.

Jamal scored off a header in the 89th minute to give Railway the three points. Rahul Rawat’s goal-line clearance denied Veniza a certain goal in the 8th minute. Railways worked the ball around in the first half. It proved experience is always an asset!

Veniza missed Shantanu Gaikwad up front as they laboured through the first half. Gaikwad could’ve given them the much-needed thrust in attack! Hafiz Khan couldn’t latch on to Siddharth Kamat’s pinpoint through ball and missed a good scoring opportunity.

Jamal had two good opportunities to put the game to bed in the first half. The strategy of feeding the ball to Jamal clearly wasn’t working! As Hafiz Khan’s brilliant overhead kick hit the bar in the 41st minute…Railways pounded on the doorstep!

Railways were unlucky not to score and Veniza lucky not to concede in a goalless first half. Veniza was sprightly as they created pressure in the second. Jayesh Amuthan carved open the Railway defence with pinpoint passing. The offside trap nullified half a dozen scoring opportunities!

Railway custodian Uzair Ansari pulled off a blinder of a save in the 82nd minute off Amuthan.

Jamal pooped the party as he scored late on to break Veniza hearts!
