The game began with KSA dominating the early proceedings; Roger Sam almost his put side in front as early as in the fifth minute only to miss an open goal from a corner routine. Roger had another opportunity in the 18th minute when a long ball from Scot D’Souza was met by Roger’s header, however the ball rebound of the crossbar before being hacked clear from the box by Iron Born defence.

Around the half hour mark, Allan had a great opportunity to convert a chance when he managed to dribble the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper however Iron Born defender Aryan Shirke came up with a crucial tackle to deny KSA the lead.

KSA continued their attacks winning a crucial foul near the box minutes before half time break. The set-piece was well saved by the Iron Born custodian as both sides entered the break with deadlock yet to be broken.

After the break, Iron Born came out with intent going for the ball to take control of the game. A rash foul earned Armash Ansari a booking from the referee early in the 2nd half. The resulting free-kick saw Alok Chauhan’s attempt coming off the bar before IB keeper came off with another save to keep the scores tied at 0-0.

Around the hour mark, controversy ensued when the referee adjudged a foul on Iron Born defender for handling the ball resulting in a penalty for KSA. The decision did not go down well with the Coach Aqeel Ansari as he charged towards linesman in argument. The game halted for few minutes before referees managed to calm things down to restart the match.

Substitute Prince Raj, who was returning to Elite division game after five years due to injury, stepped up for the spot-kick and made no mistake in converting the opportunity before breaking down into an emotional celebration.

Iron Born substituted in Rudolph D’Souza and Joyal John in search of equalizer. The game continued in similar fashion with Iron Born finding it difficult to break a strong KSA defence. In the 80th minute, Allan Dias was booked for a rash foul.

AS the game headed for a closure, Substitute Adnan Yaligar headed home the second after a cross from Faiz to make it 2-0 and put the game to bed. Deep in to the injury time, Roger Sam had another chance to get into the score sheet only to be denied by Iron Born Custodian.
